MPSE Celebrates Award Winners at In-Person Reception

The Motion Picture Sound Editors association hosted a special in-person reception for winners in the 69th Annual MPSE Golden Reel Awards on March 26th at the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles. Sound Editors honored for their work in feature films, long-form and short-form television, animation and documentaries were presented with gold GRA statuettes and joined with colleagues in celebrating their shared craft.

MPSE Celebrates Movie Sound’s Past and Present

The Motion Picture Sound Editors will draw on the most accomplished sound artists of its past in celebrating the best in sound editing of the present at the 69th Annual MPSE Golden Reel Awards. Five past recipients of the MPSE’s Career Achievement Award will serve as presenters during the Golden Reel Awards ceremony to be held as a fully virtual event on Sunday, March 13th.

11 Dollar Bill Creates a PSA for The Climate Reality Project

Climate activists from around the world call for urgent action to combat climate change in a powerful public service announcement for The Climate Reality Project. 11 Dollar Bill produced and provided editorial, graphics design and post-production services for the piece, which features personal statements from activists from London, New York, Sydney, the tiny Indian state of Sikkim and dozens of other locations.

Sound editorial and mixing for Ghostbusters: Afterlife was based at Sony Pictures Post Production Services where a veteran crew led by supervising sound editor/re-recording mixer Will Files, supervising sound editor Perry Robertson and re-recording mixer Mark Paterson faced the formidable challenge of following in the footsteps of a legend. Released in 1984, the original Ghostbusters is among the most beloved comedies of all time and elements of the film, including many of its signature sounds, are etched in the minds of movie fans around the globe.

Ron Howard to Receive MPSE Annual Filmmaker Award

The Motion Picture Sound Editors association today announce that it will honor Ron Howard with its annual Filmmaker Award. The Academy Award-winning director and producer is responsible for some of the most memorable films of the past four decades including the critically acclaimed, Oscar-winning dramas A Beautiful Mind and Apollo 13, and the hit comedies Parenthood and Splash. Howard will be presented with the MPSE Filmmaker Award at the 69th MPSE Golden Reel Awards, set for March 13, 2022 as an international virtual event.

Pace Pictures provided editorial and post-production services for For the Love of Money, the new crime drama from executive producer Melvin Childs, director Leslie Small and Freestyle Releasing, about a single mother who takes desperate action to save her teenage daughter from gangsters threatening her life. Pace’s Heath Ryan edited the film, which draws audiences into a murky world of crime, violence, and unlimited cash, and explores the morality of doing whatever it takes to protect the ones you love.
