The documentary Baby God, from first-time director Hannah Olson and executive produced by Academy Award nominees Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady, is a shocking examination of the work of a Las Vegas fertility specialist, Dr. Quincy Fortier, and the many women he guided to pregnancy through the use of his own sperm, often without their knowledge or consent. The documentary follows his newly discovered offspring as they grapple with the scope of his misdeeds and the impact that his genes may have on their own identities.

Following the lift of the first lockdown in London caused by the COVID-19 outbreak in early July, cinematographer Matteo Bangrazi and filmmaker Alfred George Bailey immediately jumped on set with the rest of their team to film the dance documentary I Still Breathe. The film is about a group of socially aware young adults who give extraordinary and deeply emotional testimonies of being black, mixed race, and white in London, England.
Abramorama has acquired U.S. distribution rights for Jesse Dylan’s feature length documentary film Soros, from Vital Pictures. Abramorama is orchestrating a nationwide live streaming premiere with a post-screening conversation with Dylan and additional guests on November 18 on the film’s website – www.sorosfilm.com. Abramorama will release the film as a nationwide Watch Now @ Home offering starting November 20. The film had its U.S. premiere at the Telluride Film Festival.
Abramorama today announced Abramorama Selects, a new imprint to handle global digital distribution and marketing for non-fiction feature films and television series. As a part of the newly expanded services offered by Abramorama, the company has entered into a multi-year agreement with Giant Pictures to be their preferred partner. The first film to be released under Abramorama Selects is the feature length documentary Herb Alpert Is… about the legendary musician and music industry titan.
Production sound mixer Ben Nimkin has worked on a long list of compelling documentaries including Fyre Fraud; Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story; States of Undress; Gaycation and more. With a specialty for investigative documentaries, Nimkin is no stranger to capturing highly emotional conversations and working in extreme environments. Experience has taught him – sometimes the hard way – that in documentary work you usually have just one chance to get the sound right.
Theatrical distributor Abramorama will host the world premiere of the documentary Herb Alpert Is…. The global event will take place October 1 via Facebook Live and will feature a Q&A with Herb Alpert and director John Scheinfeld moderated by the Grammy Museum’s artistic director Scott Goldman immediately following. On October 2 the film will be available via a nationwide virtual cinema release and globally on demand through Amazon, iTunes and other video-on-demand providers. The film will also be available on Blu-Ray and DVD via Amazon.
The MetFilm School has launched the Dan Demissie Voices That Matter scholarship, which is designed to support the next generation of black filmmakers, recognizing the importance of accessibility and equality within the screen industry. Film producer Dan Demissie died last July at the age of 37.
Discovery Network’s Journey to the Future, produced by Storied Media, is a documentary focused on the behind-the-scenes lead-up to America’s historic SpaceX Falcon 9 launch. Several packages were also produced for use throughout the live broadcasts. Among the professionals who worked tirelessly on these projects was re-recording mixer Michael Phillips Keeley, CAS, who helped create the soundscape.
