On Friday, June 27 BAMcinemafest will present the world premiere of APD/Cinema Conservancy’s new restoration of Stations of the Elevated on the Steinberg Screen at the BAM Harvey Theater. The event begins with a live performance by legendary jazz ensemble the Mingus Dynasty, the original Charles Mingus legacy band. The first band Sue Mingus organized after Charles’ death in 1979, this acclaimed orchestra continues to interpret Charles Mingus’ more than 300 compositions, and will perform as a prelude to Manfred Kirchheimer’s jazz-inflected documentary.
The documentary Fool Cool Rock from director: Hiroyuki Nakano will be mixed and released in Auro 11.1 this month. “I’m so proud that Auro 11.1 by Barco was selected as the preferred sound format for this movie. The TEDx Sydney conference on April 26 will feature a breakthrough film by Kate Kazokas and Lucy Adelaide. Titled John Was A Good Man, the short film features actors from across Australia including Jane Caro, Dr Karl, Paul McDermott, Matt Moran, Andrew O’Keefe, Turia Pitt, Jessica Tovey, Urthboy and Fred Nile.
