Funimation Films is screening the Japanese kaiju film Shin Godzilla in 534 theaters across the U.S. and Canada during its limited theatrical engagement October 11-18. Shin Godzilla is the 29th film produced by Toho in the iconic science fiction monster franchise and is co-directed by Hideaki Anno (creator of Evangelion) and Shinji Higuchi (director of Toho's 2015 Attack on Titan live action movies).

The New York Film Critics Series has partnered with the Film Institute at Montclair State University. The initial program will enable advanced film students at Montclair State University to work in a professional environment and learn how to produce short form content featuring NYFCS directors, writers, producers and actors. Students will create their own production company and perform as producers, directors and crew to create stylish documentary segments featuring stories about the best in the independent movie business today. The participants will gain hands on experience in research, interviewing, writing and editing the original programming.

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers today announced that the new officers and governors for the 2017-2018 term. Matthew Goldman, senior vice president of technology, TV and media at Ericsson, will take office as the new SMPTE president on January 1, 2017.
