Qube Installs Epiq, South Asia’s Largest Movie Screen

Sullurpet, a small town in Andhra Pradesh, around 80 kilometers from Chennai, is now home to South Asia’s largest movie theatre screen, the 100-foot wide by 54-foot high Epiq. Chennai-based Qube cinemas unveiled the first of its kind premium large format screen last month. Qube Cinemas is one of India’s foremost providers of end-to-end digital cinema technology and solutions.

B&B Theatres to Add Five ScreenX Auditoriums

B&B Theatres, the sixth largest theatre chain in North America, is adding five additional CJ 4DPlex ScreenX auditoriums across the U.S., for a total of seven by 2020. The companies partnered last year to introduce the largest ScreenX system in the world, a screen that is more than four stories tall and seven stories wide, offering moviegoers one of the most premium, immersive viewing experiences in history.

European Commission Calls for Proposals for Cinemas as Innovation Hubs

The European Commission has launched a new call for proposals titled “Cinemas as Innovation Hubs,” which will allocate a total of €2 million to projects that test new initiatives in regard to rethinking the cinema experience. The funding has been designed to empower cinemas to innovate and play a more important role in their local communities.

CinemaNext Upgrades Neocine Thader in Murcia, Spain

European cinema exhibitor services provider CinemaNext, today announced the completion of its first fourth generation laser-powered 4K RGB projection system installation at the Neocine cinema in the Thader shopping mall in Murcia, Spain. The SP4K-25 Barco projector with Alchemy server setup at Neocine marks a European first by CinemaNext and its Valencia-based services center since Cinionic began selling the new Barco series 4 platform in April.

IT Chapter Two Gets Immersive Release

Warner Bros. Pictures, announced today the release of New Line Cinema’s IT Chapter Two in three immersive cinema technologies: the multi-sensory 4DX format, the heightened 4DX Extreme (available in select theaters and territories) and the panoramic, 270-degree ScreenX. When the film is released globally on September 6 audiences worldwide will be able to take in the highly anticipated horror franchise finale in the auditoriums of 4DX and ScreenX.
