The 12th edition of DTLA Film Festival, a leading annual showcase for indie films in Los Angeles, has announced that it will postpone its 12th edition until further notice. Citing the worsening Covid-19 coronavirus epidemic and recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and other agencies for all citizens to avoid public events, festival organizers said the time had come to pull the plug on this year’s festival.

Vowing to complete the digital revolution that began nearly two decades ago when cinemas around the world converted from analog film projectors to digital cinema, former Imax president and Walt Disney Studios executive Jason Brenek has launched MetaMedia, an entertainment technology company that he says creates next-generation content delivery and new revenue-generating opportunities for content producers and cinemas.

Severtson Screens will feature its next generation SAT-4K Acoustically Transparent cinema projection screen line during CinemaCon 2020, which is being held from March 30 through April 2 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

On the heels of a successful kick-off event in Los Angeles, the trade group Women in Exhibition is set to make its CinemaCon 2020 debut. Officially introduced at 2019’s Geneva Convention, Women in Exhibition serves as a networking hub for women within the film exhibition industry. Since its launch, the non-profit foundation has welcomed more than 100 new members. At WIE events in Los Angeles in January and at last year’s ShowEast, women gathered to chat, network, and have a little fun.
