Ymagis Group has announced the June 8 launch of Celluloid Angels, the first crowd-funding platform to finance the restoration of heritage/classic films. Celluloid Angels will enable visitors to participate in a unique experience by assisting in the conservation of international heritage films in a meaningful way.

One million Australians 14 and older see art house or foreign language movies at the cinema—but they still go to mainstream movies too, Roy Morgan Research cinema attendance data shows. More than half (58 percent) of art house-foreign film-goers saw just one such film in an average three month period last year, while 30 percent saw two or three, and the remaining twelve percent saw four or more. Overall, at an average of two such films each per quarter, it adds up to a total of eight art house/foreign films over the year.
CinemaNext, part of the Ymagis Group, has opened its first French regional sales and technical support office at the Pôle Pixel in Villeurbanne, a suburb of Lyon. Olivier Douet, head of sales for CinemaNext France, Switzerland and Africa, manages the office.
The Christie 6P laser projection at the National Infantry Museum’s Giant Screen Theater in Columbus, Georgia is earning applause from the public, school groups, veterans and active duty service members. Installed by AV industry pioneer D3D Cinema, the two Christie Solaria CP42LH 6P laser projectors enable the theater to show a range of 3D content and Hollywood blockbusters – as well as alternative content and live events – to better align the theater with the museum’s mission of providing guests with an immersive experience of the United States Army Infantry’s valorous history.

The Los Angeles Greek Film Festival has announced that it will honor Twentieth Century Fox chairman & CEO Jim Gianopulos during the Sunday, June 5 Orpheus Awards at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Gianopulos will be feted alongside previously announced fellow Orpheus honoree Academy Award winning actor J.K. Simmons. The awards will be hosted by American Horror Story star Mena Suvari.
iPic has defeated an attempt by AMC Entertainment to dismiss iPic's antitrust claims in Texas. Instead, the court found that there was sufficient evidence of an antitrust conspiracy between AMC and Regal Entertainment that targeted iPic and will allow iPic's conspiracy claims to go to trial.
