Cinity Gaining Market Share in China
According to industry statistics, premium large format screen installations have seen an increase of almost 19 percent year over year. They set a record in 2019, when 734 screens were installed, a 65 percent increase over 2018. As theatres slowly reopen worldwide following lockdowns due to COVID-19, the pace of adoption is expected to resume. Owned by the China Film Group and Huaxia Film Distribution, Cinity uses premium large format laser projection, immersive sound, and ultra-high frame rate capability. Today, with 57 installations and an almost equal number on tap in cities across China, Cinity enjoys cooperative agreements with many major Hollywood and Chinese studios. The system can be viewed at the Harmony Gold Preview House in West Hollywood, where filmmakers can also screen their latest projects at the industry’s highest frame rate.

Timewaying Moves from 3D to LED
Earlier this month, the Chinese manufacturer Timewaying Technology announced that its LA2K-10 LED Cinema System had passed the DCI Compliance Test Plan. Timewaying is the largest 3D equipment supplier for the Chinese market, with more than 30,000 3D systems installed among 11,000 cinema sites across China.

Shenzhen Timewaying Technology has passed the tests of the Research Institute of AegiSolve, a recognized Digital Cinema Initiative company, to become China’s second DCI-certified LED display enterprise. Unilumin was the first Chinese LED screen manufacturer to receive DCI certification.

The China Film Cinema Bei'ao, Beijing, China has installed Unilumin’s UC-A41 LED Cinema Screen. The cinema is built with 21 halls, including a Cinity Giant Screen hall, a 4D hall, a standard laser Hall and a multifunctional Hall. It's a reflection of the current development level of the world's cinema technology. Hall 4 is newly installed with the UC-A41 LED cinema projection system.

Unilumin has become China's first DCI-certified LED display enterprise and gained full access to the opportunities of the cinema LED display market. Christie Providing Projection Support for 24th Shanghai International Film Festival
Christie is partnering with the Shanghai International Film Festival for the 13th consecutive year. This year’s festival, themed The Film Art of Centennial Glory on a Ceaseless Journey, will run from June 11-20. More than 400 films from around the world will be screened in 40 cinemas located across Shanghai during this period, including those equipped with the Cinity Cinema System and Dolby Cinema, which utilizes Christie projection.
