Kiedaisch Assesses His First Year at DCDC

In July 2021, the Digital Cinema Distribution Coalition named longtime film industry veteran Howard Kiedaisch to take the reigns as CEO, in the wake of Randolph Blotky’s decision to step down. DCDC, the satellite network originally formed by AMC Theatres Regal Entertainment Group, Cinemark Theatres, Universal Pictures, and Warner Bros., now has more than 800 sites that can receive exclusive live cinema events. Those sites represent more than 3,100 theatres and more than 33,000 screens across the U.

Screenvision Presents Indeed’s Rising Voices Films

Screenvision Media today announced that Indeed will take over the entire Screenvision Front + Center pre-show to debut the company's Rising Voices films during the weekend of July 22-24. Indeed's Rising Voices, which aims to discover, invest in and amplify stories created by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color filmmakers and storytellers, will rotate the 10 films, with audiences seeing one film and exclusive behind-the-scenes content during Screenvision's pre-show.

UAE No Longer Censoring Films

The United Arab Emirates' Media Regulatory Office has announced that new movies will be released in cinemas there without any censorship. The move comes in the wake of the UAE’s decision last month to ban Disney Pixar's Lightyear based on what it said was "a violation of the country's media content standards." The animated film depicts a romantic kiss between two female characters.
