Ford v Ferrari Releasing in ScreenX, 4DX

CJ4DPlex and The Walt Disney Studios have announced the release of 20th Century Fox’s Ford v Ferrari in the 270-degree, panoramic ScreenX format. Ford v Ferrari in ScreenX will be coming to theatres worldwide beginning November 13 and will be releasing on 270 screens, across 27 countries, including 32 screens in the U.S. with Regal Cinemas, B&B Theatres and CGV Cinemas. The film opens in the U.S. on November 15.

Kinopolis Adding D-Box Screens

D-Box has signed a contract to install its motion seats in four auditoriums and one large format screen at Kinopolis’s Mathäser Filmpalast’s flagship cinema complex in Munich. This brings the total number of D-Box screens 4 auditoriums including one large format screen. This brings the total number of D-Box screens at Kinopolis to 31.

Support Group Formed for Women in Exhibition

A new organization was formed in recent weeks designed by women in exhibition for women in exhibition. Heather Blair, the founder of the new trade group Women in Exhibition, says the idea had its beginnings one day at a conference when, for the latest in more times than she can remember, she was the lone woman taking part in a panel discussion with a group of all white men. She says she knows many talented and intelligent women who have as much to offer the industry as men do and she set her mind to changing things. I recently spoke with Blair about her plans and goals for the new organization. Here is our conversation.

Movio Examines Movie Audience Diversity

With both an increasingly diverse movie going audience and an increasingly diverse U.S. population, understanding how to attract diverse audiences will soon be paramount to the success of filmmakers and marketers, and to the sustainability of the exhibition sector. Movio’s recently released white paper, The Diversity Demand: Securing the Future of Movie Going, examines how theatrical audience composition correlates to increased representation on screen, and if this suggests an opportunity to drive box office by producing content representative of audiences that have historically been underrepresented in film.
