Amazon Acquires Worldwide Rights to One Night in Miami

Amazon Studios has acquired the worldwide rights to Oscar-winning actress Regina King’s feature directorial debut, One Night in Miami, written by Olivier-nominated Kemp Powers, based on his 2013 stage play. Producers are Jess Wu Calder and Keith Calder of Snoot Entertainment (Blindspotting, Anomalisa) and Jody Klein of ABKCO (The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus). King and Powers are executive producers.

Universal, AMC Agree to 17-Day Release Window

Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, a division of Comcast Corporation, and AMC Entertainment Holdings have announced a multi-year agreement giving AMC exclusive rights to Universal Pictures and Focus Features theatrical releases for at least three weekends or 17 days, after which the studio will have the option to make its titles available across premium video on demand platforms, including through AMC Theatres On Demand.

ATIF Holdings Limited, which provides business consulting and multimedia services in Asia, today announced that the cinemas of its majority-owned subsidiary, Leaping Group, a leading multimedia and advertising firm in Northeast China, are ready to resume operation. The company added that it expects a strong post-pandemic rebound from its cinema business as China allows theatres to gradually resume operations starting today.

CineAsia 2020 Cancelled

CineAsia 2020, set to be held December 7-10 in Bangkok, Thailand, has been cancelled by the Film Expo Group. According to the group’s official announcement, “Given ongoing uncertainty over the COVID-19 pandemic and taking into account travel restrictions by governments as well as employers, we feel this is the prudent decision.”
