The Inter-Society for the Enhancement of Cinema Presentation is pleased to announce that Jack Kline, chairman, president and CEO of Christie’s operating companies, will receive the 2014 Ken Mason Inter-Society Award. The award will be presented by Susie Beiersdorf, the Inter-Society’s president and vice president of sales at Sony Electronics on March 25 in conjunction with CinemaCon 2014.

The Big Sky Film Institute has announced that the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival is now a qualifying event for the Academy’s Documentary Short Subject Award. Films that win BSDFF’s Short and Mini-Doc categories are now eligible to compete for an Oscar.
Academy Award nominees from the United Kingdom will be honored at the 2014 Great British Film Reception in Los Angeles. The February 28 reception celebrates the UK’s creative accomplishments in film and will be hosted by the British Consul General Chris O’Connor OBE and Oscar nominee Steve McQueen CBE, in partnership with the British Film Commission and event sponsors Jaguar Land Rover and Virgin Atlantic.
The Motion Picture Sound Editors will include a special tribute to the late American inventor Ray Dolby, recognized around the world for developing groundbreaking audio technologies, during its 61st MPSE Golden Reel Awards February 16 in Los Angeles. Also at the ceremony George Lucas will present the 2014 MPSE Career Achievement Award to Randy Thom, director of sound design at Skywalker Sound.
Award-winning writer-director-producer John Wells will receive the American Society of Cinematographers 2014 Board of Governors Award. Wells will be honored during the 28th Annual ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards gala on February 1 at the Hollywood & Highland Ray Dolby Ballroom.
"John Wells is an extraordinary talent whose long career has exposed the world to superlative cinematography across a wide array of features and television," said ASC president Richard Crudo.
