DCS Events has announced that the 2019 Emerging Cinema Markets conference will return to Istanbul this November. Special focus will be given this year to Turkey, Africa, the Balkans, Central Asia and other emerging countries. There will also be an update on the Gulf Cooperation Council cinema industry hosted by The Big Picture Cinema Consultants. French company CGR Cinemas and Vox Cinemas are partnering to bring a new premium screen concept to the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Vox Cinemas’ parent company is Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, communities, retail and leisure pioneer across the region. Their new format is called ICE Theatre, for immersive cinema experience.
Cinema technology specialist Influx Worldwide has announced a program to make the cinema experience on the African continent more accessible, convenient and enjoyable. The program, It's Showtime for Africa, will give qualifying cinemas full access to Influx's suite of cinema guest experience technologies including ticketing websites, mobile applications, kiosks, food and beverage ordering systems and more with no financial commitment.

Currently operating nine venues across seven countries, CanalOlympia is the leading network of cinema and live performance venues in Africa. Several additional sites are set to open in the months to come, extending the breadth of the CanalOlympia footprint.The CanalOlympia operation showcases the diversity of African culture and has helped bring cinemas back to countries currently short on entertainment choices and cultural infrastructure.

South Africa’s Nu Metro Cinemas is opening Xtreme theatres at Nu Metro Emperors Palace in Johannesburg and Nu Metro Galleria on the KZN South Coast.
Vox Cinemas has signed an exclusive distribution deal with Myrkott, the Saudi production company behind the YouTube animated series Masameer that has attracted more than 700 million views across social media. The development marks the first of its kind deal with a Saudi production company and will see Myrkott content screened across the Middle East and North Africa, including the distribution of a forthcoming feature film based on the YouTube show.
Filmhouse Cinemas has announced that it will roll out Vista Cinema software across all ten of their cinema sites, comprising 43 screens in total, located throughout Nigeria. The project will commence immediately and is due to be completed by the end of the year. Filmhouse Cinemas holds the largest cinema exhibition market share in Nigeria and operates the only IMAX site in West Africa.
