A still from Sonita, courtesy of Women Make Movies.Rooftop Films is excited to announce three evenings of ground breaking and creative documentaries, presented in partnership with International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, the world’s largest documentary film festival. The three events will take place in various locations across New York City from Wednesday, July 20 to Friday, July 22.

The program begins with a free screening of Rokhsareh Ghaem Maghami’s layered IDFA Audience Award-winner Sonita on July 20 at Socrates Sculpture Park. This will be followed by a collection of some of the best Dutch-made short films from recent festivals on July 21 at the Trilok Fusion Center for the Arts.

The program concludes at Industry City on July 22 with a special screening of Jerzy Sladkowski’s contemplative 2016 Jury Award-winner Don Juan. All three events will include live music and the latter two will include after-parties sponsored by Stella Artois.

“We are very excited to be partnering with IDFA this summer,” says Rooftop Films Programmer Dominic Davis. “As New York City, and Brooklyn in particular, has become the center of documentary filmmaking in the US, it just feels natural to bring this focus on IDFA, the largest platform for docs in the world, to our audience. We hope doc filmmakers and movie-goers alike will come to these shows, experience IDFA’s programming, and meet the festival organizers.”
