San Antonio Texas-based Santikos Theatres has selected Barco cinema projectors for their digital projection conversion of five additional multiplexes. As one of the nation's oldest and most highly regarded exhibitors Santikos selected the full spectrum of Barco digital projectors for the 62-screen conversion including the DP-1200 DP-1500 DP-2000 and Barco's flagship DP-3000. The digital cinema conversion is now underway at the five San Antonio locations: the Palladium Mayan 13 Embassy 14 Rialto 14 and Silverado 16. “When we made the decision to convert our entire theatre circuit to Digital Projection we underwent the process of comparing all the options available to us ” says Arthur Seago director of operations for the Santikos Theatres. “In the end Barco was the clear choice providing us with everything needed to take us to the next level in cinematic presentation. They brought to us the technology quality value and service that we strive to provide to our customers at all times.” “I'm proud Santikos Theatres selected Barco to be their partner for this important decision ” says Scott Freidberg vice president of sales for Barco Digital Cinema. “Santikos was one of the first exhibitors to test digital presentations and we knew their selection criteria went beyond basic projector evaluation. Our goal was to provide this client a superior turnkey package of system hardware operational support and world-class service. I'm confident we'll continue to meet their high expectations.” Louis Santikos a Greek entrepreneur and pioneer in the Texas motion picture industry founded Santikos Theatres in 1915.
