Rohde & Schwarz DVSAt this year’s National Association of Broadcasters show April 11-16 in Las Vegas, Rohde & Schwarz DVS will highlight a complete Interoperable Master Format workflow from a single system: Timeline marker authoring, captions, subtitles, and forensic watermarking.

The IMF can completely replace tape as a mastering or business-to-business exchange format. As such, Rohde & Schwarz DVS has established an SMPTE-standardized successor to tape and prosumer file formats with its end-to-end IMF toolset. By implementing IMF in their workflows, content providers benefit from the flexibility of file-based workflows combined with the reliability of tape-based production. They also have a solution that rescues them from the labyrinth of multi-language versioning. With IMF being the only standardized mastering solution for UHD, Rec. 2020, and HDR, content owners, supply chain vendors, and content providers now have a robust way of storing and exchanging episodic TV and feature-film content using IMF packages created by R&S Clipster.

In line with this, Rohde & Schwarz DVS has added more features to R&S Clipster for efficient workflows and easy content distribution. The timeline can be used as usual to arrange all the content, including captions and subtitles. The integrated IMF delivery tool guides users through all the necessary steps so they are safe in the knowledge they have created a compliant IMF package. R&S Clipster also offers real-time playback of UHD IMF content, thus facilitating assisting the visual quality control process. With support for UHD, captions, and subtitles, R&S Clipster smoothes the transition from legacy workflows to a robust file-based workflow.

R&S Clipster now also supports NexGuard forensic watermarking. Content owners and their vendors can protect pre-release content up to UHD & 4K with forensic watermarking. At the same time they benefit from R&S Clipster’s blistering performance and format flexibility. The watermarking process allows content to be traced, permitting content owners to ensure contractual compliance between recipients by enabling them to expose the source of a leakage.

Stephen Birdsong, Product Manager Post Production Solutions at Rohde & Schwarz DVS: "We believe IMF is the answer for those businesses that need to monetize content, and we are committed to it. As market leaders, it is important that we take this step by making IMF ready for production. When it comes to IMF mastering, Clipster is the ultimate solution thanks to its quality, reliability, and performance. With our new option for an IMF-only Clipster, customers now have a lower cost of entry into UHD mastering with Clipster."
