2 GunsThis is a movie where everyone is dirty – the DEA, the CIA, Naval Intelligence, everyone.  It’s a movie where everyone is violent, has access to knives and ammo, wants one thing, $43 million, and is willing to kill anyone to get it.  And it’s a movie I’m not sure I ever fully understood, but I enjoyed because its cast seems to be having so much gritty fun telling us their story.  From the beginning, nobody is who he seems to be and everyone is gaming everyone else. This movie is much more complicated than it needs to be, but also much more enjoyable than it deserves to be.  The dialog is witty, rapid-fire.  Washington and Walhberg have good chemistry, feeding off each other even as they are trying to fend each other off.  In some ways, they seem to be characters from an Elmore Leonard novel – two misfits who are more motivated than bright, who can’t seem to come up with a plan they can stick to or even fully understand – and who would do the right thing, if they could just figure out what that is.  There are way too many characters in the cast, but Washington and Walhberg are entertaining – not exactly the odd couple, but different enough that their differences provide sources of humor.  There is not really much that’s new in here and there are parts that may leave you confused, but if you like to laugh, Washington and Walhberg will make you do that.
