New Film Raises Awareness of Gender Disparities in Hollywood

On the night of the Academy Awards, Women in Film and Fred & Farid Los Angeles launched an eye-opening campaign to raise awareness of the persistent gender disparities faced by women and women of color, in below-the-line roles within the Hollywood film industry. Leveraging insights from a comprehensive gender equality study conducted by ReFrame, the gender equity coalition founded by WIF and Sundance Institute, the campaign seeks to spark a meaningful dialogue and inspire tangible change in the industry.

Nikon to Acquire Red Digital Cinema

Nikon Corporation has entered into an agreement to acquire 100 percent of the outstanding membership interests of Red Digital Cinema, whereby Red will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Nikon, pursuant to a membership interest purchase agreement with James Jannard, Red’s founder, and Jarred Land, its current president, subject to the satisfaction of certain closing conditions thereunder.

Shankweiler’s Drive-In Theatre Celebrating 90th Anniversary

Shankweiler’s, America’s oldest drive-in movie theatre, founded in 1934, is celebrating its 90th anniversary in April. Matthew McClanahan and Lauren McChesney, the current owners of the theatre, will be hosting a celebration of the anniversary. Shankweiler’s originally opened on April 15 1934 and the anniversary festivities will be held on Saturday April 13.
