The Motion Pictures Sound Editors presented the 66th MPSE Annual Golden Reel Awards at a black-tie ceremony at the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles last Saturday night. Golden Reel Awards recognizing outstanding achievement in sound editing were presented in 23 categories encompassing feature films, long-form and short-form television, animation, documentaries, games, special venue and other media.
Helen Moss, senior vice president of international distribution, Paramount Pictures will receive this year’s Passepartout Award. Mitch Neuhauser, managing director of CinemaCon made the announcement. The award is presented annually to an industry executive who demonstrates dedication and commitment to the international marketplace. CinemaCon, the official convention of the National Association of Theatre Owners, will be held April 1-4 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Moss will be presented with this honor at the International Day Luncheon taking place April 1.
Claiming the coveted Theatrical Award for best cinematography in a motion picture, Łukasz Żal, PSC took home the American Society of Cinematographers Award for his work on Cold War. Giorgi Shvelidze took the Spotlight Award for Namme. The 33 rd ASC Awards gala took place Saturday in the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood
Earlier this week Cinionic was named Innovator of the Year by the Advanced Imaging Society during its 10th Annual Lumiere Awards at the Steven J. Ross Theater on the Warner Bros. studio lot. The event recognizes outstanding international achievement in the creation of immersive storytelling using advanced visual technologies.
The National Association of Theatre Owners will honor John D. Loeks, chairman of Studio C, with the 2019 NATO Marquee Award during this year’s CinemaCon, according to the conference’s managing director Mitch Neuhauser. CinemaCon, the official convention of NATO, will be held April 1-4, 2019 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Dolby Laboratories congratulates this year’s Academy Award nominees who have tapped into the audio-visual power of Dolby technologies to draw audiences into their stories. Five of the eight Best Picture nominees this year used both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. And all five films nominated for Sound Mixing and Sound Editing awards this year were presented in Dolby Atmos.
Three of the five Best Animated Film nominations also utilized Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

Doug Darrow, senior vice president of the Cinema Group accepted the award on behalf of Dolby.
