Rodeo FX won three Visual Effects Society Awards for its work on Game of Thrones at the 15th VES Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. The awards honored the studio’s work on Battle of the Bastards, the ninth and most memorable episode of season six.
Montreal’s Rodeo FX completed 60 visual effects shots for Arrival, the alien visitation movie from acclaimed director Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Prisoners, Enemy). Working once again with VFX supervisor Louis Morin, the studio helped create a gravity shift sequence, multiple aircrafts, digital doubles of actors and the scene when they entered the alien shift.

Rising Sun Pictures has been nominated for Outstanding Compositing in a Photoreal Feature in the Visual Effects Society’s 15th Annual VES Awards. The nomination comes for the studio’s work on the Quicksilver Extraction sequence from the 20th Century Fox film X-Men: Apocalypse. Nominees include Alana Newell and compositors Jess Burnheim, Andy Peel and Matthew Shaw.
Rodeo FX delivered 126 visual effects shots for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, including many featured creatures and their environments, the magical reconstruction of a destroyed room, and Macusa – the elaborate headquarters of the wizarding world.
Atlanta boutique post-production house Nine Mile Circle has added creative director, Flame artist and finishing editor Les Umberger to its creative team. Umberger is an Emmy Award-winning artist who brings experience with major brands and top agencies through past stints at West Coast shops Digital Domain and R!OT. His presence will allow Nine Mile to offer clients comprehensive post-production packages, encompassing creative editorial, color grading, visual effects, editorial finishing and sound at a level on par with companies in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago.
