POV Acquires Children of the Mist

POV has acquired the feature documentary, Children of the Mist, directed by Vietnamese filmmaker Hà Lệ Diễm and produced by Trần Phương Thảo. Children of the Mist delves into the tradition of bride kidnapping still practiced by the Hmong, one of Vietnam’s largest ethnic groups. Diễm's directorial feature-length debut, is a tender portrait of a community on the cusp between tradition and modernity, and one girl tragically stuck in the middle.

AFI Announces Dates for 2023 Film Festival

The American Film Institute has announced the dates for AFI Fest 2023. The 37th edition of the Institute’s annual festival will take place exclusively in person on October 25-29 at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre in the heart of Hollywood. The five-day festival will once again include a curated selection of red-carpet galas, special screenings, world cinema, documentaries, and short films.

The film By Water, directed by Iyabo Kwayana, is an official selection of the Animation Short Film Program at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. By Water, will also be the first animated experimental film to appear on America ReFramed. The short film follows an unlikely hero's journey into his own memories and becomes a vehicle for reconciliation and healing for himself and his sibling.

Sundance Filmmakers Overwhelmingly Choose Adobe Technology

For the fifth year in a row, more Sundance Film Festival filmmakers selected Adobe video editing and collaboration tools than any other. This year’s annual Sundance Institute survey found that more than two-thirds (67 percent) of Sundance films used Adobe Premiere Pro or Frame.io to bring their stories to life: Premiere Pro is the festival’s most popular video editing software, used by more than half of Sundance films, including Plan C, Going Varsity in Mariachi, Sometimes I This about Dying, Fremont and many others.

Pelosi Documentary Sound, Picture Finishing Completed at Goldcrest

Goldcrest Post helped tell the story of one of the most remarkable political careers in recent American history in providing post-production services for the new HBO documentary Pelosi in the House. The facility handled both picture and sound finishing for the nearly two-hour film, directed by the House Speaker’s daughter, acclaimed documentary filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi.
