New Spectracal Software Said to Reduce Monitor Correction Time

SpectraCal announced today what the company says is a major technological advance in the process used to correct the color performance of professional reference monitors. Called Dynamic Linearity Correction (DLC), the new software algorithms added to SpectraCal’s CalMAN Studio software help enable the widespread adoption of monitor correction with three-dimensional look-up tables.

SGO releases Mistika v8 at NAB 2014

SGO released Mistika v8 earlier this month at the National Association of Broadcasters show in Las Vegas. Mistika v8 features an advanced and complete color grading toolset. Each one of an infinite number of color correction layers contains every grading tool within the system including: primaries, fixed vectors, custom curves, and Mistika’s own enhanced five ball primary system – bands.

Stream TV to Highlight Glasses-Free 3D at NAB 2014

Stream TV Networks will highlight its Ultra-D glasses-free 3D technology at the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas next week, marking the first time that the glasses-free 3D screens will be on display at the show. It also marks the start of Stream TV’s relationship with SGO. The system is being tested in full by London-based post facility Onsight. SGO is in booth SL9021.

Park Road Post ProductionThe Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was brought to life at Park Road Post Production, New Zealand, where the production team mastered both high frame rate stereoscopic 3D at 48 frames per second and immersive Dolby Atmos sound, and integrated it all into the digital cinema package process.

The main tool they used for the task was the DVS Clipster, which allows for the world’s first implemented high frame rate DCI workflow with Dolby Atmos.

Mistika Helps Antonio Banderas's Kandor Graphics make first 3D Feature

Justin and the Knights of Valour tells the story of a young boy who becomes a man as he embarks on a quest to become a knight. Directed and written by Kandor Graphics' chief creative officer, Manuel Sicilia, the animated adventure fantasy film boasts a famous cast of European voices including Freddie Highmore, Charles Dance, Rupert Everett, Barry Humphries, David Walliams, Julie Walters and Saoirse Ronan. Antonio Banderas, who is a Kandor Graphics partner, is also the voice of character Sir Clorex, as well as producer of the film along with Marcelino Almansa, Kerry Fulton and Ralph Kamp.
