Technicolor-PostWorks New York Posts Five Films Screening at Toronto Film Festival

Technicolor-PostWorks New York provided post-production services to five films that screened at this month’s Toronto International Film Festival. They included three narrative films, John Turturro’s Fading Gigolo, David Frankel’s One Chance, and Ned Benson’s The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Him and Her, as well as Alex Gibney’s documentary The Armstrong Lie, and The Weinstein Company’s concert film 12.12.12: The Concert for Sandy Relief.

Raising 4K Cinema to Digital Art

Digital Arts NY provides 4K picture and sound finishing services for feature films and high-end TV productions within its 12,000 square foot facility. The company recently launched what Axel Ericson, the founder and owner, feels is the first true 4K infrastructure on the East Coast for full 4K digital cinema finishing, including a new, landmark audio mixing environment.

Colorflow Helps Facing Fear Tell its Important Story

Facing Fear is first-time director Jason Cohen’s powerful documentary short about the unlikely friendship between a former neo-Nazi and the gay man he victimized decades earlier. Kent Pritchett of Colorflow performed final color grading for the doc, which recently made its world premiere at Outfest Los Angeles where it won the Audience Award. Facing Fear is scheduled for a theatrical run at the Laemmle Music Hall Theatre in Beverly Hills, August 9-15.

A Fantastic Way of Working

In early 2010, Anna Foerster was one of the first cinematographers to shoot a feature film using a prototype Arri Alexa camera and Codex Recorders. That film, Anonymous, blended court intrigue, scandalous romance and the timeless lust for power, all set in the visually rich period of Shakespeare’s England. Foerster won the German Film Award for best cinematographer for her work on Anonymous. Now Foerster has reteamed with Roland Emmerich on White House Down, a contemporary action thriller about an attack on the U.S. president and the cop who defends him. Foerster and Emmerich chose to work with the Alexa and Codex once again. “It’s a fully developed, fantastic way of working,” says Foerster.

HPA Opens Call for Entries for Eighth Annual Awards

The Hollywood Post Alliance announces the opening of the Call for Entries for the Eighth Annual HPA Awards, which will take place on the evening of November 7th at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California. Considered the standard bearer for excellence and innovation, the HPA Awards recognize the achievements of the individuals and companies that have contributed to groundbreaking technologies and creative excellence within the post production industry.

Post-production on Disconnect has been completed at Technicolor-Postworks in New York, where the work ran the gamut from dailies processing through digital intermediates colorist Tim Stipan (Moonrise Kingdom, Black Swan) applied the final grade, working alongside Rubin and cinematographer Ken Seng. Disconnect, the new drama from LD Entertainment and director Henry Alex Rubin, weaves three loosely related narrative lines, each of which relates to the Internet and the way it is affecting human relationships.
