Post-production creative services provider Light Iron, a member of the Panavision family of companies, has opened a new facility in Atlanta to locally support the robust Georgia production community. Vox Cinemas has signed an exclusive distribution deal with Myrkott, the Saudi production company behind the YouTube animated series Masameer that has attracted more than 700 million views across social media. The development marks the first of its kind deal with a Saudi production company and will see Myrkott content screened across the Middle East and North Africa, including the distribution of a forthcoming feature film based on the YouTube show.
National CineMedia is pioneering interactive augmented reality gaming in theaters this spring with the launch of Noovie ARcade, a companion app to NCM’s Noovie pre-show and Lobby Entertainment Network. Noovie ARcade is available in the iOS and Android app stores. NCM expects it to be rolled out nationwide this spring on over 20,600 screens in 1,700 theatres across the country including AMC, Cinemark, Regal Entertainment Group, and 49 other regional and local theater chains.
Barco Escape has suspended operations effective immediately, Digital Cinema Report has learned exclusively. Barco Escape was installed in thirty-one theatres around the world and there were several studios ready to commit to projects when the decision was made.
In a pivotal moment in Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the CGI character Maz Kanata, played by Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o, shows up just in time to give the Rebels a vital piece of information. Although Maz’s appearance is brief, the complex shoot involved creating a temporary, studio-grade motion capture stage inside the famed Pinewood Studios. To complete this task, Lucasfilm turned to Audiomotion and its Vicon system.
What began as an indie mobile game in 2014, Five Nights At Freddy’s has grown into a multimedia franchise with multiple games, novel adaptations and a feature film currently in progress.
