iQiyi today announced that the company’s first offline Yuker on-demand movie theatre in Zhongshan, Guangdong is now THX certified. Tao Lei, vice president of iQiyi, and Wu Hao, general manager of THX China unveiled the official THX Certified Cinema plaque during the opening ceremony launch event in Zhongshan, Guangdong on November 9. The company’s said this milestone not only reinforced iQiyi’s adherence to the company vision of “to become a technology-based entertainment giant”, but also demonstrated iQiyi and THX as the ideal partners to enable shopping malls to drive traffic and enhance engagement with consumers, as part of an ongoing transformation of retail spaces into digital entertainment complexes

Isaac Molina is a senior colorist based in Mexico City, where for the last nine years he has worked at leading post house Oxido. Molina has a rich tapestry of grading experience that includes TV commercials and, as the colorist and DI supervisor, with the grade of more than 30 feature films. More recently, he has worked as a colorist in the first Latin American high dynamic range TV series for Netflix. Digital Cinema Report recently spoke with Molina about his career, the art and craft of color grading and his work on The House of Flowers.
Jonathan Wales, mixing at Formosa NoHo, recently completed the audio mix for the Netflix series, The Haunting of Hill House. The Haunting of Hill House was mixed in Dolby Atmos. For the show, Wales needed to convey the feeling of spaciousness in the house and create unnerving suspense throughout the mix as a family relives their scary past.
Filmmaker Megan Griffiths has announced that she and producers Lacey Leavitt and Jennessa West will independently release her acclaimed drama Sadie. Working with creative distribution strategist Mia Bruno, the film will begin its roll out in New York and Los Angeles on October 12.

Dick’s Electric Dreams, the anthology series produced by Sony Pictures Television in a joint venture with Channel 4 in the U.K. and Amazon Studios in the U.S., draws on the late science fiction writer’s voluminous short fiction for its stories of alternate realities, future worlds and paradoxical situations. The show’s first season is a feast for the imagination, consisting of 10 stand-alone, one-hour episodes, each based on a different Philip K. Dick short story and each with a different cast, director and writer. Split between England and the United States, production of Philip K. A new report by the European Observatory has found that fewer that sixty percent of feature films were released via video on demand in the country’s where the played in movie theatre. The European Commission financed by the report.
