Rising Sun Pictures Offers Course in Compositing for Feature Films

Aspiring visual effects artists will have an opportunity to learn the basics of compositing through a new course offered by Rising Sun Pictures. Introduction to Compositing for Feature Films will be taught by RSP senior compositor Paul Kirwan, whose more than two dozen film credits include Gravity, The Great Gatsby, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

Zweib First Watermark Detection Partner for NexGuard Digital Cinema in Europe

German digital cinema expert Zweib today announced its partnership with NexGuard, a Civolution company and the leading provider of forensic watermarking technology and solutions, to facilitate the detection of watermarks in digital cinemas in the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). The partnership allows Zweib to trace the original source of illegally re-distributed movie samples using NexGuard Digital Cinema, Civolution’s forensic watermarking solution designed specifically for digital theatrical projection.

Screenvision Renews Agreements with Five Exhibitors

Screenvision has renewed long-term agreements totaling 328 screens with five exhibitor partners including Flagship Cinemas, Paragon Theaters, UltraStar Cinemas, Empire Cinemas and The Birmingham Theatre. 

The deals average eight years and include the top DMAs of New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Washington DC, Phoenix and Detroit. They follow recently announced signed exhibitor contracts with Marcus Theatres, Reading International, Allen Theatres, B&B Theatres, Bow Tie Cinemas, Classic Cinemas, Malco Theatres and Regency Theatres earlier this year. 

The Caucus for Producers, Writers & Directors Foundation Names New Board

The Caucus for Producers, Writers & Directors Foundation announced its new board of directors and a milestone $1.4 million awarded through its national Student Grant Program. The program combats the lack of diversity in content and creatives working in the entertainment industry by helping to launch the careers of student filmmakers from currently underrepresented groups.
