Last month, ten founding companies and 50 forming companies announced the formation of the Entertainment Globalization Association to create a closer connection to the creative community to better facilitate the retelling of their stories for global audiences. Globalization is defined as dubbing, subtitling, and audio description services, which allow content to be consumed in languages other than the original version. The EGA’s ten founding companies are Audiomaster Candiani, Deluxe, Hiventy, Iyuno Media Group, Keywords Studios, Plint, SDI Media, Visual Data Media Services, VSI, and Zoo Digital. The additional 50 companies represent high caliber service providers from all around the world. Chris Fetner was named managing director of the association

Cinemark Reopens with Unique X SmartTrailering

As Cinemark reopens its theatres across the United States, it is using Unique X’s newly updated SmartTrailering software activated in every theatre. SmartTrailering delivers a sophisticated, centralized trailer scheduling system that fully automates an exhibitors’ trailering process via a user-friendly, cloud-based system. Unique X has worked closely with Cinemark to develop and update SmartTrailering for the U.S. market and beyond.

Cinemas temporarily closed by the government lockdown are re-opening to the public with the launch of a new virtual cinema called YourScreen, a partnership of local, independent exhibitors created to stream new films and films unavailable on other digital platforms into the homes of audiences around the United kingdom. These are films that might normally play in their local cinema.

New York’s Little Cinema Deploys Verimatrix for Virtual Premieres

In the wake of the pandemic, New York-based Little Cinema has deployed Verimatrix watermarking and digital rights management technologies for its virtual premieres and previews. A digital studio, Little Cinema has partnered with Netflix, ABC, CBS, HBO Max, and Warner Media to produce virtual premiere events for an industry that used to rely solely on in-person debuts.

CTC Announces 2020 Award Winners

The trade group Cinema Technology Community announced the recipients of its 2020 awards at its special online event, One Community Day. Maya Cinemas Installing Cinionic Giant Screens in all of its PLF Auditoriums

Maya Cinemas is installing Cinionic Giant Screens in all its Maya Premiere Experience auditoriums. The first three MPX powered by CGS locations, Maya Cinemas Fresno, Bakersfield, and North Las Vegas, will be ready to welcome Maya audiences in time for Thanksgiving. All the screens are more than sixty feet wide.
