Sony Electronics has launched Create Action, a new $1 million grant program designed to support underserved, underrepresented communities by amplifying the efforts of local, non-profit organizations embedded within these communities. This program is part of Sony’s broader social justice efforts, with funding sourced from the company’s Global Social Justice Fund.

AFI Announces Docs Talks, Industry Forum for Annual Festival

AFI Docs — the American Film Institute's documentary film festival — has announced its Docs Talks and Industry Forum events for its 19th edition, June 22-27. The inaugural Docs Talks section will feature the World Premiere of Netflix’s and Higher Ground Production’s We the People, as well as History Is Out of the Closet: Excavating Queer Stories for the Screen, a live stream conversation celebrating LGBTQ+ pride. Docs Talks events are free.

Barco, Cinionic Donate Movie Tickets to Celebrate Belgium Cinemas Reopening

Barco and Cinionic are joining forces with audiences across Belgium to celebrate today’s reopening of the movie theaters in the country. Moviegoers return to a blockbuster line-up at the cinema after Belgian authorities announced the ability to reopen as of June 9. In addition to making more than 1000 subsidized movie tickets available to employees, the companies are making the movies accessible to all through a charitable donation of 2000 tickets in partnership with Film Fest Ghent and local charity Enchante.

Atom Seating, Skeie Seating Announce European Cinema Partnership

Spaces & Between, makers of Atom Seating, and Skeie Seating have announced a partnership to exclusively distribute cinema recliners in 13 European countries. The companies say that the direct connection between Atom Seating’s VIP recliners and Skeie Seating’s years of association in Europe, will allow cinemas in Europe to quickly optimize their seating requirements through comfort, design and cost-effectiveness.

Starlings Backs Kino Interactive Movie

Kino Industries, creator of the interactive CtrlMovie technology that gives film and TV audiences real-time collaborative influence over the direction of a project’s plots and characters, has entered into a creative and co-financing partnership with Rocketman financier Starlings Entertainment. The announcement was made by Kino Industries CEO Chady Eli Mattar, president Scott C. Silver and Starlings Entertainment CEO/executive producer Karine Martin.
