Filmmakers are being challenged to capture the Essence of Tasmania to win a share of $20 000 in prizes in a short film competition sponsored by Tourism Tasmania. Tasmania Australia's only island state is holding the competition to bolster travel to the country. The contest calls for movies that are three minutes long. Entries close April 13. The competition invites filmmakers across the globe to impart their impressions of Australia's Natural State in a creative way via this visual medium. Submissions will be scored on creativity and the ability of the film maker to tell the Tasmanian story in their own unique way.

Tourism Tasmania will use the four winning films to promote the destination around the world through a variety of marketing channels predominantly through available social media platforms. Submissions should be less than three minutes long
and be shot in high definition in English or another language with subtitles. Entries can be themed within the following genres: comedy documentary drama romance adventure and science fiction.
