Award-winning cinematographer Theo Van De Sande ASC was an early supporter of the Academy Color Encoding System, using version 0.2.2 on civil war drama Deliverance Creek in 2013, which was nominated for the ASC Award for Television. Since then he has been a staunch supporter, using ACES on numerous TV shows and pilots. When he was offered the chance to shoot Bad Santa 2 for Miramax, he turned again to ACES for his color-processing pipeline.

StorNext 5.4 enhancements include the ability to integrate existing public cloud storage accounts and third-party object storage (private cloud) — starting with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, NetApp StorageGRID, IBM Cleversafe and Scality RING — as archive tiers in a StorNext®-managed media environment. Another new feature enables users to deploy applications embedded within StorNext-powered Xcellis workflow storage appliances.

Backstage Relies on Facilis TerraBlock

The post-production team for the Canadian family drama series Backstage is again relying Facilis TerraBlock for their collaborative editorial workflow for its second season. Ellen Fine, CCE (Canada Cinema Editor) is the supervising editor and consulting producer on Backstage. The series is produced by Fresh TV and distributed by DHX. It currently airs on the Family Channel in Canada and on the Disney Channel in the US and worldwide.

Nugen Audio Announces AMB Audio Management Batch Processor

AMB expands on the concept of Nugen Audio's loudness management batch processing technology for high-speed audio loudness measurement and correction. Inspired with Anna Olson is Peace Point’s first television series produced in 4K UHD.

Storaro Discusses His First Digital Shoot

“When Woody Allen asked me to do Café Society, he had never done a digital capture before, but I knew that I had to jump completely into this new chance we had,” said Vittorio Storaro. “I wanted to see images on set that would be very close to the final result and afterwards on dailies even closer, almost 90 percent of that way to what we would see at the end.”
