Codex recording and workflow technology was used at the heart of the production to post pipeline on 20th Century Fox’s latest superhero movie X-Men: Days Of Future Past. A combination of Codex Onboard Recorders, in-camera XR recording, and Vault systems, enabled the filmmakers to deploy a variety of Arri Alexa cameras, shooting both native 3D and 2D using ArriRaw, and to maximize image quality on-set and during post-production.

Assimilate Shows Scratch with ProRes for Windows at NAB 2014

At the National Association of Broadcasters convention held earlier this month in Las Vegas, Assimilate announced v8 versions of its popular Scratch and Scratch Lab software, allowing users to encode Apple ProRes files on Microsoft Windows 7/8-based PCs. Scratch and Scratch Lab customers can now use both the OS X and Windows versions of the software. Artists either on-set, or in post-production are guaranteed the highest possible quality and encoding speeds on each platform. In addition, Scratch 4K is now available at Scratch 2K prices.

The U.S. comedy series Anger Management from Debmar-Mercury Productions on FX Network has saved an estimated $2.25 million in post-production costs, while supporting the delivery of double the number of episodes typically produced over the same production period. The producers attribute the savings to Cinedeck RX technology
