Editing Sound for Object-Based Audio Formats

The landscape of sound for picture is moving at a faster clip than ever before. Cinema sound and television audio – broadcast and streamed – are both racing from 5.1 surround to 7.1 to formats that range from 11.2 in broadcast for residential applications to as many as 64 individual speaker locations for object-based audio platforms like Dolby’s Atmos and Auro Technologies’ Auro-3D.

ArcLight Chooses Meyer Sound

ArcLight Cinemas has selected Meyer Sound cinema audio systems for three screens at new upscale multiplex theaters in Chicago, Illinois; Bethesda, Maryland; and Santa Monica, California. A fourth Meyer Sound system was installed earlier at ArcLight Cinemas’ La Jolla, California location.

Founded in London in 1997, award-winning Factory Studios has produced the sound for projects by many high profile clients, including EE, O2, Renault, Nike, Three, eBay, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Harvey Nichols, BT, Sony and Samsung. Last year it became the first UK facility to include a Dolby Atmos-licenced suite for commercials and trailers, which features 35 Alcons CRMS Cinema Reference Monitor System speakers.

Christie Upgrades USC’s Ellen Norris Theatre
