Conscious Cartoons Coming Soon to Vashon Island, Washington

The producers of the Conscious Cartoons International Animation Festival, which starts September 14-16 on Vashon Island, Washington, are calling it the first of its kind worldwide. Conscious Cartoons will feature three days of animated shorts – many of them award winning – from around the world with socially conscious, humanist themes. The festival includes something for everyone, from kids to adults. The goal is to harness the power of animation to inspire compassion and provide insights into the human condition in ways that live action media often fails to do.

Color Technology Evolves

Swapnil Patole is senior colorist and digital intermediate head of department at Famous Studio in Mumbai, which opened in 1946 and has become one of the finest post-production houses in India. Since starting his career 14 years ago, he has graded a long list of commercials in all genres and for brands such as L’Oreal, Garnier, McDonalds, Honda and Nivea, to name a few. He has more recently worked on feature films, festival short films and music videos, including a project for Sony Music India. Digital Cinema Report recently spoke with him about his career and how evolving technology has changed the work of colorists around the world.

NYWIFT Announces Board of Directors Election Results

New York Women in Film & Television has announced the results of its 2018 board of directors election. As a nonprofit 501c3 public charity, NYWIFT is governed by an 18-member board of directors. Board members serve on committees in the areas of development, membership, communications, programming and special events. The board is elected by the membership. Six spots on the board have been filled, with four returning members and two new members.

Ymagis Group Reports Six-Month Earnings Report

Ymagis Group today reported its consolidated financial results for the first sixth months of 2018, ending June 30. Ymagis Group reported €79.3 million in revenue during the first half of 2018, a 3.6 percent decrease compared to the prior year period. The Group's non-virtual print fee activities are especially seasonal with strong sales traditionally in the second half of 2018, peaking in Q4.
