The Guitammer Company has partnered with CBS Films for the release of American Assassin in theatres nationwide September 15. The film can be seen in the more than one hundred auditoriums that are already equipped with Guitammer ButtKicker seats.
ScreenX, the world’s first multi-projection system that provides a 270-degree panoramic film viewing experience within a theatre setting, has announced that Twentieth Century Fox’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle will be available in the immersive format. In addition to opening in ScreenX, the film will be made available for bookings on nearly 400 4DX screens in 49 countries around the world.
CJ 4DPlex announced today that it has equipped the Hollywood Megaplex Gasometer with 4DX immersive seating, making it the first Austrian cinema with the technology. The theatre opened August 2 and is part of the company’s previously announced partnership with Hollywood Megaplex.

D-Box Technologies has renewed its resale and distribution agreement with Ecco Cine Supply and Service. Under the new two-year agreement, Ecco has been granted the rights to resell and distribute D-Box motion-cueing technology to exhibitors in Europe. As a longstanding agent in sales, installation and technical support for D-Box products, Ecco has an in-depth understanding of the unique immersive motion technology and the advantages it has for exhibitors and moviegoers.
CJ 4DPLex says it closed out a successful first half of the year with record-breaking 4DX attendance and box office revenue. According to the company, from January 1 through June 30, more than 9.3 million 4DX moviegoers helped generate close to more than $110 million at the worldwide box office, the best half-year performance since the company launched 4DX in 2009.
Kantar Millward Brown, a specialized consumer research firm, and 4D cinema seating company CJ 4DPlex have announced the results of jointly conducted research entitled Consumer Perception Trends of Global Cinema. The results of the study, conducted in June 2017, are based on 3,000 consumers across the United Kingdom, Japan, and China who watch movies in cinemas more than twice in a year in their given location. The research has found a significant global preference for 4DX technology over traditional movie viewing.
Netflix this week committed to streaming its movies in both Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision high-dynamic range formats. It is the first global on-demand service to commit to combining both formats. Okja, the critically praised Netflix Original Film, is the first film available in both formats. Additional Dolby-supported titles are coming soon, and the catalog will continue to grow. Okja will be released to select movie theatres this week as well. Netflix has raised the stakes again.

CJ 4DPlex has announced that Nordisk Film Cinemas will bring nine additional 4DX immersive seating screens to Scandinavia by the end of 2021. This agreement comes on the heels of a successful run at Nordisk’s first 4DX theatre in Oslo, the Nordisk Ringen. During full time screenings of eight Hollywood titles since March 10, the theater has seen an overall occupancy rate of 72 percent.
