Angel Studios, a platform and studio empowering filmmakers to crowdfund, create, and distribute films and TV series globally, backed by thousands of Angel investors, has announced its July cumulative-to-date and opening weekend results for Sound of Freedom. The Jim Caviezel driven film, now in its wide US release was the number three movie at the box office over its first weekend.

Lotte Cinema is now using Fundiin’s buy-now-pay-later service in Vietnam, so that movie fans can enjoy paying later for cinema tickets only at Lotte Cinema. Based on this partnership, Fundiin offers zero-cost pay-later payment options, either in 30 days or three-monthly installments, for customers of Lotte Cinema, one of the largest cinema chains in Vietnam, with more than 40 cinema cineplexes nationwide.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One Releasing in ScreenX and 4DX

CJ 4DPlex and Paramount Pictures have announced that Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will be released in both the 270-degree panoramic ScreenX format and the multi-sensory 4DX experiential format. 4DX will feature Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, beginning July 10 and ScreenX shows will begin July 11.

Unilumin LED Cinema Screen Receives DCI Certification with GDC’s SRC-7500 IMB

The Unilumin Group, based in Shenzhen, China announced today that the company’s third LED direct view cinema screen, measuring 14 meters with 4K resolution, has passed the Compliance Test Plan and received Digital Cinema Initiative compliance with GDC Technology’s SRC-7500 Integrated Media Block.

Santikos Theatres Announces Major Expansion

Santikos Theatres will expand from 121 screens in the San Antonio, Texas area to 377 screens in seven states across the Southeast with the purchase of 17 new theatres, the company has announced. The theatre chain, founded in San Antonio in 1911, will acquire The Grand Theatres and AmStar Cinemas from New Orleans-based VSS-Southern Theatres, making Santikos the eighth largest theatre chain in North America.
