Burnham-On-Sea’s Ritz Cinema Hopes to Add Digital Signage

Burnham-On-Sea’s Ritz Cinema hopes the replace the street art on one side of its building with a large electronic advertising billboard. The Ritz Social Club, which runs the cinema, has applied to the Sedgemoor District Council for permission to introduce the illuminated display on the north-facing cinema wall opposite the town’s post office.

Elvis Leads Steady Box Office Gains

Signs of adult audiences returning continued this week, according to the London-based analytics firm Gower Street, as Baz Luhrmann’s with a $31.2 million opening Elvis prevented Top Gun: Maverick from flying back into the top spot on the Domestic chart. The biopic delivered $51.2 million globally from 52 launch markets. It scored number one in Luhrmann’s home-market, Australia ($4.7 million including previews), as well as in the UK/Ireland ($4.9 million), Italy ($925,000), Netherlands ($849,000), and New Zealand ($662,000).

Grainne Clarke Stepping Down as ECA Managing Director

As part of a broader move to a leaner and more participatory operating model, the Event Cinema Organization today announced that managing director, Grainne Clarke, will be stepping down from her current role and has been appointed as non-executive Director of the association going forward. The announcement was made by the ECA’s board of directors. Clarke has been managing director since 2018.

DLS Offering Laser Upgrade Kits to ICA Members

Christie Providing Projection for Lavazza IncluCity Festival

Christie Digital Cinema is providing projection technology for the Lavazza IncluCity Festival, organized by the ICFF. This year’s festivities will transform the iconic cobblestone streets of Toronto’s Distillery Historic District into an outdoor cinema village, celebrating multiculturalism and the best of international cinema from June 27 to July 15. After two successful years as the Lavazza Drive-In Film Festival, the festival welcomes moviegoers to the new cinema village.
