Showcase Names Laura Correia Assistant VP Film & Event Cinema

Showcase Cinemas has named company veteran Laura Correia assistant vice oresident, film & event cinema. Correia, who started her professional career with National Amusements in 1997, will oversee the event cinema program as part of her new role. Showcase Event Cinema exhibits more than 250 events annually and includes fine arts, classic films, anime, documentaries, inspirational content and concerts. Showcase Cinemas is committed to continuing to expand this program and offer the most engaging content for moviegoers.

Parasite Best Picture Winner in Fandango Survey

According to Fandango, South Korean genre-bending hit Parasite is the top pick in the Best Picture race with 20 percent of the film fans’ votes, followed closely by Sam Mendes’ WWI epic 1917 with 19 percent. Parasite also took the number-one spot in the Best Director category, with first-time nominee Bong Joon Ho winning with 34 percent of votes.

Production Completed on Dani Who?

Headroom has completed production of the first season of the sci-fi thriller Dani Who? for Viacom International Studios. Now airing on Paramount Channel and available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video, the show is set in the 1990s and centers on a group of teenagers looking into the mysterious disappearance of a girl from their small Mexican town.

Attendees at HPA Tech Retreat Supersession Prepare to Make a Movie

For the first time at the Hollywood Professional Association’s Tech Retreat, this year’s Supersession will present a live production – from acquisition through post – of a short movie, in near real-time. The culmination of the production will be a screening of The Lost Lederhosen at the day’s conclusion. Joachim Zell, vice president of technology at EFilm, will be at the helm of this year’s event.
