Archion Technologies has announced that its Omni and Omni Hybrid network-attached storage systems – designed for 4K workflows in post-production, finishing, graphics, visual effects, and other types of video media – have been certified for use with Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve and DaVinci Resolve Studio.
At this month’s American Film Market in Santa Monica, WCPMedia Services will demonstrate its cloud-based media-management platform, WCPWeb App. Used by producers, distributors, film festivals and others worldwide. The market runs through November 9.
Rome-based post company Augustus Color has moved post-production for Black Butterfly, Paradox Studios’ upcoming psychological thriller, to the cloud. Augustus is using WCPMedia’s media management platform to deliver dailies media to the film’s editorial team in Spain.
MTI Film recently completed an all-new 4K restoration of director Lewis Milestone’s 1931 film The Front Page. The months-long project was conducted for The Academy Film Archive and The Film Foundation, with MTI Film’s restoration team working under the direction of AFA director Michael Pogorzelski and film preservationist Heather Linville.

Inspired with Anna Olson is Peace Point’s first television series produced in 4K UHD.
Roundabout Entertainment recently collaborated with Paramount Pictures and Park Circus on a luminous, 4K-restoration of Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 classic Romeo and Juliet. The restored film is currently enjoying a new theatrical run as part of Shakespeare Lives, a worldwide program of special events commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Bard’s death. The project was made possible through funding from the British Council and the British Film Institute.
The Arc/k Project, a new nonprofit focused on digital preservation, has developed a unique plan for creating three-dimensional records of the world’s most endangered cultural assets while providing Hollywood filmmakers with a new and better way to incorporate exotic locations and artifacts into their productions. Employing the latest photogrammetric imaging technology, the Arc/k Project is constructing precise 3D models of landmarks and historically valuable objects, many of which are under imminent threat from terrorist activity, global warming, environmental degradation and other factors.
AMIA and the Alamo Drafthouse, in partnership with The Film Foundation, are offering a three day projection workshop for projectionists and staff presenting 35mm film in theaters. The workshop offers speakers and hands-on tutorials for projectionists working with 35mm film prints and will focus on film preparation and projection as well as special stipulations for archival projection, and coordinating with lending institutions. The workshop is aimed at those who have some booth experience and are looking to expand their knowledge and skills.
