The Japanese film Your Name has made the official Oscar consideration list in the Best Animated Feature category. The film will be vying for one of five nomination spots in its category that will be voted on for the 89th annual Academy Awards. Funimation Films acquired North American distributions rights to Your Name earlier this year from Toho Co. in Japan
Animation, visual effects and design company Blur Studio has hired Eric Maurer, character effects supervisor and Oded Raz, asset supervisor. Maurer and Raz will bolster Blur's leadership team, increase the studio's capacity for larger projects, and foster the development of new technology as the company gears up for the next round of feature work by Blur co-founder and Deadpool director Tim Miller.
Funimation Films is screening the Japanese kaiju film Shin Godzilla in 534 theaters across the U.S. and Canada during its limited theatrical engagement October 11-18. Shin Godzilla is the 29th film produced by Toho in the iconic science fiction monster franchise and is co-directed by Hideaki Anno (creator of Evangelion) and Shinji Higuchi (director of Toho's 2015 Attack on Titan live action movies).
Screenvision Media has formed an alliance with 4K Media to distribute the highly anticipated Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions movie to more than 500 theatres across the United States and Canada. The feature film will be released on January 20th and run as a limited-time theatrical engagement.

Sentai Filmworks says it will release additional information on Girls und Panzer der Film shortly, including distribution, release date, and streaming offerings.
Deluxe Entertainment's Method Studios has hired supervising art director and head of art department Olivier Pron, commercials VFX supervisor and creative director Jesse Bradstreet, commercials VFX supervisor James Rogers, animation supervisors Daryl Sawchuk and Tim Ranck, and VFX supervisor Gong Myung Lee. They will be based in Los Angeles and New York.
