Red Digital Cinema has unveiled the Red Raven.Red Digital Cinema has unveiled the latest addition to its line of professional cameras, Red Raven. Weighing in at just 3.5 lbs, Red Raven is designed for shooting documentaries, online content creation, indie filmmaking, or with drones and gimbals.

Jarred Land, Red Digital Cinema president says, “The Raven doesn’t replace Scarlet, it’s a new category in our line up. Raven is a younger, hungrier, more spirited member of the Red family with a bit of a chip on his shoulder ready to take on the entire sub-$10k market with images that you will be incredibly proud of.”

Pricing for Red Raven starts at $5,950 for the camera brain only, with complete package options available for under $10,000. Red Raven’s announcement reflects Red’s ongoing commitment to the belief that cinema-quality creative tools should not be in the hands of a few—they should be available to all professional shooters.

Capable of capturing footage with RedCode Raw in 4K at 120 fps or in 2K at 240 fps, Red Raven is built to shoot exceptionally high-speed, high resolution content.

Red Raven provides options tailored to all workflows. Red’s recording format, RedCode Raw, enables shooters to maintain visual integrity throughout post-production with non-destructive editing capabilities and is compatible with most professional-grade editing programs. Shooters have simultaneous capture options in both R3D and Apple ProRes 422, 422 LT, or 422 HQ.
