Tekken Wraps in Lousiana Crystal Sky Pictures has just completed shooting Tekken a feature film based on the hugely popular video game series. The film was shot in Shreveport Louisiana and will be released next year. The film which is the story of a young man who discovers he holds a great power and must battle a team of elite fighters who will stop at nothing in order to get it from him features an ensemble cast including Kelly Overton (The Ring Two) Jon Foo (Batman Begins) Ian Anthony Dale (The Bucket List) and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Memoirs of a Geisha Planet of the Apes). The project was shot on several Sony F23 cameras with Fujinon lenses.

Sean Fairburn digital imaging director and second unit director of photography recommended Fujinon lenses for the shoot because he believes they offer more focal lengths and better handheld and user control at both the operator and engineer’s end. “We fell in love with the way the images looked ” says Fairburn. “The F23 is an amazing HD camera with cleaner edges than I’ve ever seen in any other digital camera of any kind—and obviously the quality of a camera’s image starts with its lens.”

Fairburn also found the lenses’ durability invaluable. “The other remarkable aspect of Fujinon lenses is their quality ” he says. “They are solid consistently making beautiful pictures and so robust you can put them through anything. You never hear about a Fujinon lens malfunctioning.” Evidence of the durability was demonstrated during one of the film’s more dramatic fight sequences. For this scene the storyline called for one character to leap from a high platform down onto another actor. To achieve this shot Fairburn handed the camera to one of the actors in order to capture his point of view as he flew down from his position. “We hooked him up to a harness handed him the camera and he was able to get the shot in one take ” says Fairburn. “The HAc13X4.5B is small light and fast and because you can use it in some crazy configurations straight up upside down or flying through the air it never limits us.” The production company chose several Fujinon lenses for the project: the HA42X13.5BERD Super Telephoto ENG style lens HAc15X7.3B Compact High Performance Cine Zoom and HAc13X4.5B Compact Cine Style Super Wide Angle zoom lenses mounted on Sony F23 cameras.
