Cinemex to Install Dolby Atmos Sound in 20 Theatres

Cinemex will install Dolby Atmos sound in twenty theatres in Mexico.Dolby Laboratories and Grupo Cinemex, recipient of the 2013 ShowEast International Achievement Award in Exhibition, announced today that Cinemex will install the Dolby Atmos cinema sound platform in 20 theatres. 

“Dolby Atmos is a major differentiator for Cinemex audiences. It provides greater definition and dimension to movies with its unique object-based approach to sound,” said Rolando Maggi, infrastructure director, Grupo Cinemex. “With this achievement, we reinforce our mission to be the best in entertaining people by offering state-of the-art technology and exceptional facilities, as well as providing our clients with new and innovative concepts for a convenient and enjoyable moviegoing experience.”

In addition to Dolby Atmos, the CinemeXtremo concept offers a more realistic and extreme experience with its giant screens, 100 percent digital cinema projection capabilities and ergonomic seats specially designed to provide audiences greater comfort. The Cinemex expansion will also feature Christie Vive Audio, the world’s first audio system to be powered by Christie’s innovative wall and ceiling surround speakers, with their unique ribbon-driver technology in a parabolic line-array design, purposely crafted and built for the cinema environment.
